The word translated as ‘sin’ is really a word that means ‘to miss the mark’. It is the Greek hamartia. It is an archery term. To miss the mark and fail to share the prize.

Someone commented on my blog the other day, about what intercession is as far as Jesus interceding for us. It turns out that intercession means ‘to obtain by hitting the mark’. It’s the antonym of hamartia. It’s the antonym and antidote for ‘sin’.

What a revelation!

Jesus hit the mark and sat down, ever living as our intercession. He hit the mark and we share in the prize with Him. That is the new covenant.
